About this work
A Dutch patriot kneels on the ground and begs a Frenchman for help. The Frenchman, however, mockingly shows him his empty purse. On the left, a Prussian soldier and an English sailor. In the caption, the texts of the four main characters. Part of a group of four caricatures on the patriots during the Prussian invasion in October 1787.
