About this work

Allegorical monument for the Leiden medical student Samuel van Schaak, who was wounded on 2 March in a fight with Major De Graaf of the militia and died on 11 March 1794 from his wounds. Two putti and Minerva by a monument in a wooded setting. With a four-line verse in Latin on the sheet below the plate.
