About this work

Allegorical monument for Hendrik Danielsz. Hooft, former mayor of Amsterdam, died on 31 August 1794. Grave needle with portrait and coat of arms of Amsterdam in a garden with two mourning children at a large urn on the right. On an arch the indication 'Eliseum'. In the background Hooft is ferried across the river by Charon with the boat. With a four-line verse.
