About this work
Satirical print on the departure of stadtholder William V to England on 18 January 1795. William V calls for help at a fallen Orange tree; the Austrian and Prussian eagles try in vain to keep the tree upright. In the foreground, the French rooster chases the English dog; in the background, citizens dance around the liberty tree in the sunlight of Liberty.
