About this work

Allegorical monument for Jan Nieuwenhuyzen, founder of the Society for the Benefit of the Public, who died on 24 February 1806. Tombstone with a bust of the deceased, surrounded by mourning allegorical figures and other persons. To the right the personification of the Society with the shield of the Society. In the background the Dutch Maiden crowns the bust with a wreath of oak leaves. A printed explanation accompanies the print.
