View of the Steenschuur, a canal in the extension of the Rapenburg, Leiden, in its prosperous state before the gunpowder explosion of 12 January 1807. In the left foreground, the Nieuwsteegbrug with the Steenschuur behind it. On the corner of the Steenschuur to the left, the house of alderman J.W. van Noort. In the background, the Saaihal (later Sint-Lodewijkskerk).
