About this work
Satirical print on Napoleon's banishment to Elba, May 1814. Napoleon is examined by surprised doctors from the allied countries: England, Prussia, Russia, Sweden and Austria. The English doctor looks into the back of Napoleon's trousers and remarks 'Ei kijk! het hart in de broek!' (Look! The heart in the trousers!). Meanwhile Napoleon vomits up the territories he conquered, including Holland.
