About this work

The bombardment of Algiers in the night of 26-27 August 1816 by the combined Anglo-Dutch fleet, under the command of Lord Exmouth and Jonkheer van Capellen. The allied fleet in the foreground, behind it flames and smoke from the burning ships and buildings on the coast. Behind that the town situated on the hills on the coast.
