About this work

Monument for the third centenary of the Reformation, 1517-1817. Allegorical representation with a pyramid at the center bearing a portrait of Martin Luther. Fame blows her trumpet beside it. Father Time writes the inscription on the pyramid. Above the pyramid the All-Seeing Eye. On the left and right, putti in the clouds with books. At the bottom, Luther defending his theses at the Diet of Worms (1521). On the left, the Dutch lion with a bundle of arrows and a coat of arms.
