Mary and Elizabeth Embracing at the City Gate. Behind Elizabeth stands Zacharias. Joseph runs through the gate with a staff over his shoulder. In the trees behind the gate an owl (the bird of darkness) is attacked by a flock of day birds (representatives of light).
