About this work
Satirical print on the call by King William I for voluntary arming, 5 October 1830. King William I hangs from the gallows with the publisher Libry and Minister Van Maanen hanging from his feet. The king's trousers are pulled down and the executioner beats the king with a bundle of twigs. To the right, a group of Dutch musicians on a podium sing a song about 'Orange Above'.
