About this work

Allegory on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the reign of King Willem I in November 1838. At the top, between columns, stands the king on a staircase, flanked by personifications of Religion, Justice, Wisdom, and Prudence. At the bottom of the staircase, inhabitants of the country kneel in gratitude to their ruler. On the left, the Dutch Maiden on the lion and putti with various attributes.
