About this work

Ruins on the south side of the Steenschuur in Leiden, after the Gunpowder Explosion of 12 January 1807. Centrally, the sunken yacht is being lifted from the water of the canal. At the bottom, titles in Dutch and French separated by a vignette with the Maid of Leiden and Hope. See also the design drawing.
