About this work

Two allegorical depictions to decorate the new Festival Building where the music festival was held, 1854. The upper one with the year 1854 and 'Netherlands', the lower one with the year 1829 and 'Rotterdam'. Part of a series of twelve portraits based on daguerreotypes and twelve city views. On the occasion of the Music Festival celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Society for the Promotion of Music in Rotterdam, 12-15 July 1854.
