Anglo-Saxon kings

Seven cartouches with scenes of the conversion of Saxon kings to Christianity. The seven kings are Ethelbert, Sebert, Erpenwald, Edwin, Kengils, Peada, and Ethelwolf. Ethelbert is converted by Augustine; Sebert builds the churches of St. Paul and St. Peter on the ruins of the temples of Diana and Apollo; the newly converted and baptized Erpenwald is murdered; Edwin receives a vision; Kengils is converted by Berinus; the converted Peada is murdered due to his faith by his mother's treachery (or possibly his wife); Ethelwolf is baptized by Berinus. The print is the right-hand part of a map of Great Britain in the time of the Saxon kings.
