About this work

View of the busy street in front of the Morita kabuki theatre in Saruwakamachi, Edo (present-day Tokyo). On platforms at the entrance of the theatre sit the ticket sellers. On either side next to the theatre tea houses are depicted. Above the ticket sellers large paintings of scenes from the plays to be performed.
