About this work

Allegory on the 100th anniversary of Dutch Freedom, 1648-1748. The personification of Dutch Freedom with spear, hat, and banner with Prince William IV receives the Century that descends from the clouds. On the throne canopy, busts of William I, Maurice, and Frederick Henry, at the feet of Freedom the enemies defeated during the Revolt: the king, the Catholics, and the Duke of Alva. Design for a print.
