About this work
The laurelled personification of Peace sits enthroned in the air with an olive branch and a caduceus. Below her Minerva receives a spear with a liberty cap from a putto. A second putto offers the Vigilance in the middle a book. Far to the left a third putto drives devilish figures with a spear into a sea of flames. At the bottom the town hall on the Dam in Amsterdam, completed in 1648, with a portrait of Jacob van Campen and a representation of earthworks during the construction.
