About this work
Wallerant, along with his brother Bernard, was among the few artists who drew large portraits to hang on the wall. He also made pastels and many mezzotints. These are somewhat light-dark and regarding the fabric expression comparable to the chalk drawings. The artist from Lille worked from 1642/43 in Amsterdam.
