Siege of Alkmaar in 1573, viewed from the north. Copy after the painting by Pieter Adriaensz Cluyt from 1580. Soldiers storm the city from the left and right. In the foreground, a cartouche with text and an illustration of a storming bridge as used by the Spaniards. Cartouches with texts in Dutch in the upper left and right, the city coat of arms in the center.
