About this work
Allegory of the expulsion of exchange wind traders from the Amsterdam Exchange in the year 1763. The Amsterdam city maiden, seated on her throne, watches as Minerva and Prudence drive away the deceitful speculators and devils. On the left, a group of allegorical figures including Mercury, Commerce, Liberty, and Temperance. In the clouds, Abundance and two putti with the coat of arms of Amsterdam.
