About this work

Left the body of the father is hung on a tree; the sons aimed their arrows to pierce it as deep as possible. One of them, the true son, refuses to shoot at his dead father, kneels with his back turned to the scene. Right a group of riders. Illustration to Gesta Romanorum, Chapt. XLV.
