About this work

A procession of allegorical female figures advances towards a round temple on a mountain in the background. The procession of female figures is interspersed with two triumphal chariots, upon which Mercury with a harp, a naked woman with a small organ and a youthful Silenus seated on a wine vat are seated. The procession is preceded by a panpipe-playing satyr, on whose back rests an open book, from which a train of scholars and boys sings.
