About this work

The drawing is a preliminary study for a painting for the pilaster to the right of the altar in the church of Or San Michele (Florence?), which must have been completed before 1510. The sheet comes from the famous 'Libro de' Disegni' by Vasari, which gave a unique overview of Italian drawing art until the end of the 16th century.
