About this work

In the center a square-shaped fortified city under siege. Around the city walls warriors equipped in a classical manner fight fiercely. On the edge a triumphal procession in which on the right a clock is carried on a cart. Top right a group of prisoners of war walks along in the procession, which further consists of riders and a triumphal chariot drawn by four horses on which sits a figure dressed in classical attire. Bottom left figures dressed according to the fashion of the 16th century and two riders behind the triumphal chariot wear modern armor. The drawing is presumably the design for a triumphal shield.
