About this work
A woman with blue skin sits alone in a rocky landscape. Her hair is tied up in a bun and her clothing consists only of a skirt of peacock feathers. She wears many jewels. In her hand, around her foot and in her immediate vicinity, cobras writhe. In the river are lotuses. On top of a rock stands a peacock showing off its plumage. A second peacock looks on. With these elements the Asavari ragini is depicted: a jungle dweller who lures snakes towards her.
