About this work

In the middle of a flowing stream, Vishnu and Lakshmi sit on a lotus flower; in the foreground, a giant tortoise; men with animal heads and others with crowns hold a nine-headed snake wrapped around the lotus stem; in the meadow in the background, a few figures and animals, including a multi-headed horse; in the sky, the sun and the moon. The scene is framed by a narrow greenish-gray border and a border that is wide at the top and bottom and relatively narrow on the sides, in brownish-red.
