About this work

Shiva stands on a hill; he holds both arms outstretched, the right arm resting on the head of Markandeya who sits behind him with a small linga in his hands. In his left hand Shiva holds a trident with which he pierces the body of a blue demon (Yama) on a bull before him; in the background a night sky in an arch. Around the scene a narrow border in orange, rounded at the top in both corners.
