About this work
The popular ancient epic Ramayana is a saga of exile and separation that exemplifies virtuous conduct and spiritual ideals. The protagonist Rama is a divine prince and is known as one of the avatars of the Hindu deity Vishnu. In this scene, the ideal couple Rama and Sita sit on a throne and are being paid homage by the delicately portrayed monkey-god, Hanuman.
