About this work

A young couple sit facing each other under a canopy. Their hands are touching, indicating an engagement or marriage ritual. The second stage of life, as prescribed by Hindu scriptures, involves running one's own household, thus getting married and having children. Marriage was an important union between two clans, and the choice of spouse was usually determined by the family elders.
