About this work
The scene is divided into two horizontal planes; the lower half is a dark space in a palace with a young woman in the center leaning against a large cushion on a raised platform, putting flowers in her hair; to the left stands a maid with a large mirror, to the right one with a torch; the upper half consists of palace roof planes with round roofs on the left and right and, in the center, four pillars with a round dome; on the right, on a flat roof section, sits a large yellow bird. Above and below the scene, two red borders, the lower one heavily damaged and almost colorless; an inscription on the black sky at the top.
