View of Ternate and the roadstead of Ternate, the west coast of Halmahera at the height of Jailolo in the distance, North Moluccas. In the foreground two seated men, one holding the string of a kite. The artist is located at the height of Kayu Merah (dilapidated fort on the left) south of the settlement and looks down on the main street and the house of the Sultan of Ternate opposite the port town.
