About this work
This signed drawing by Hans Mont is reminiscent of Italian chiaroscuro woodcuts from the first half of the 16th century, which he may have studied during his sojourn in Italy. It is one of the few surviving drawings by the Ghent-born sculptor. There are no known sculptures that can be attributed to him with certainty.
