About this work
A dog, almost identical to the dog on the previous sheet (46). According to the caption it is a molosser (a large dog of the dog type) or a dog of the mastiff breed. Numbered in the top right: 2. Part of the first album with drawings of quadrupeds. First of twelve albums with drawings of animals, birds and plants known around 1600, made on commission of Emperor Rudolf II. With explanations in Dutch, Latin and French.
