About this work

Sheet with seven different tropical birds. At the top three Brazilian parrots, in the middle two smaller birds, at the bottom left a narrow-tailed paradise flycatcher and right a king bird-of-paradise. Numbered top right: 19. Part of the second album with drawings of birds. Fourth of twelve albums with drawings of animals, birds and plants known around 1600, made on commission of Emperor Rudolf II. With annotations in Dutch, Latin and French.
