About this work

Great black-backed gull or silver gull (juvenile). Numbered top right: 14. Name in three languages top right. Part of the third album of bird drawings. Fifth of twelve albums of drawings of animals, birds and plants known around 1600, made on commission of Emperor Rudolf II. With commentary in Dutch, Latin and French.
