Portrait of Pieter Cornelis Hasselaer, Councillor of India and Mayor of Amsterdam, with his family. Depicted, from left to right: Hendrik Nicolaas (1749-1810) with a book, Cornelis Pieter (1741-67) with a microscope, Clara Suzanna (1752-1808), Geertruida Constantia (1746-94), Wendela Eleonora (born 1743) with a fan, and Dirk Wybrand (1754-78). On a chair stands the portrait of the mother, Clara Wendela Sautijn (died 1756). The family is portrayed in a room with an Oriental carpet on the floor and a painting of Minerva on the wall in an original rococo frame.
