Portrait of Elisabeth Bellinghausen (c.1520- after 1570)

Portrait of Elisabeth Bellinghausen. Portrait of the young woman, half-length, seated behind a balustrade, in the right hand a sprig of bittersweet. Around the neck a gold chain, around the waist a wide belt with a gold buckle. She wears a cap embroidered with pearls on her head. The sitter is a daughter of Prof. Peter Bellinghausen, chancellor of Cologne. The painting is a pendant to the portrait of Jacobus Omphalius (1500-1567) in the Mauritshuis, The Hague (inv. no. 1225).
