Interior of the 'Stoockhuys' of apothecary Anthony d'Ailly at the bastion near the Zaagmolenpoort in Amsterdam. A man stirs in a large cauldron over the fire, on the left a boy stokes the fire in the oven. In the workshop of the apothecary stand large distillation bottles, barrels and casks.
