About this work

The Battle on the Zuiderzee off the roadstead of Hoorn against Bossu in 1573. The fleet under the command of Maximiliaan de Hennin, Lord of Bossu, is defeated on 11 October 1573 by the fleet under the command of Cornelis Dirckszoon. Depicted is the moment when Bossu's flagship, the 'Inquisitie', is boarded. The frame contains trophies, city coats of arms and various attributes of shipping and naval warfare.
