About this work
In a landscape among trees, a woman lying on a cloth breastfeeds her child, holding a cross in her left hand. On the left, another child looks on. In the clouds stands a triumphal chariot in which a man offers the woman a laurel wreath and a palm branch. The scene is interpreted as Charity and as Venus breastfeeding Cupid.
