Portrait of Cornelis Theodorus Elout (1767-1841). Commissioner-General (1816-19). Knee-length, standing, pointing with the right hand to a passage in an open book lying on a table at the lower left. Also a book with the title 'Grondwet' on the spine and back. Left hand on the hilt of his sword. Family coat of arms in the upper right. Posthumous portrait based on portraits by Charles Howard Hodges and L.A. Vincent. Part of a series of portraits of the Governor-Generals of the former Dutch East Indies.
