About this work

Justus de Huybert. Zeeland School, c. 1665. Justus de Huybert (1610-1682) was secretary of the States of Zeeland. He held the same function with the Zeeland Admiralty. Like many prominent contemporaries, Huybert had his portrait painted wearing a Japanese gown and on his head a skullcap. In the background: the assembly hall of the States of Zeeland in the Abbey of Middelburg.
