Portrait of Elisabeth Troost (1730-1790)

Elisabeth is depicted at the age of 37. She leans half against a chair upholstered in red fabric, in three-quarter view, with her head turned slightly to the left. She is dressed in a sky-blue silk robe à la française trimmed at the sleeves with layers of lace. A lace fichu is draped over her shoulders. On her head she wears a lace cap. Her right hand is hidden behind her skirt, her left hand hangs over the arm of the chair. She wears a white glove, possibly of leather.
