About this work
Mary with Child and John. John the Baptist as a child shows the Christ Child a nest with birds; on the left, Mary looks on with a book in her hand. Unfinished painting, perhaps a study for a similar work from 1715. The panel served as support for a canvas painting by Van der Werff in the Six collection in Amsterdam.
