Riders let their horses bathe and drink while a heavily laden ferry arrives at the crowded waterfront. The blue sky and the light shining on the clouds reveal the dawn. The landscapes of Philips Wouwerman, filled with horses and people, have been among the most sought-after Dutch paintings since the early 18th century.
