About this work

Gilded and painted frame in Gothic style with a cyma at the bottom rail. The wall crown consists of a gilded bead. The bottom is hollow and painted red. Following this bottom is a gilded pilaster on both stiles, with a Corinthian volute. The pilasters run through the top rail. This is followed by a black painted hollow profile. The inner edge is gilded. The gilded insert is smooth and sloping. The frame has a lip joint. On the sole there are two screw eyes for vertical hanging, next to which are some holes that may have served for hanging systems in the same direction. The condition of the frame is moderate. The gilding and paint is worn. The left stile has two straps to hold the whole together. On the sole remnants of covering paper are visible.
