About this work
This dashing young man wears a fashionable pin in his shirt, and is seated on a fancy chair with a painted or inlaid design. The piece is inscribed "J J Goyena Pinx"---"pinx," short for pinxit, means "painted" in Latin, and is often found on older European paintings.
