Type status: holotype. Collection locality: off Lota, Concepcion Province, Biobío Region, Chile. Collected by U.S. Coastal Survey Stmr. Hassler, 1872-04-10/1872-04-11. CSBR Slide Grant Image 2016; IZ number 83634; lot count 1; Microslide 01, ossicles; Microslide 02, fragment; type status comment: Verrill gives the locality as questionable in his original description, but says it came in a lot containing Myenaster gelatinosus from Chile. The locality of this lot is questionably attributed to the same as YPM No. 80301, M. gelatinosus.
