About this work

Collection locality: Nome Census Area, Alaska, USA. Collection date: 1906. skull, tusk - Audit notes by PFW: Large adult with long tusks. While sskull is missing portions, it is heavy. Tusks have numerous longitudinal craks. Much of occipital and parietal missing, so cranial cavity open. Missing most teeth. No lower jaw. Sides of skull have large holes. Basicranium intact. Surface of bone very weathered. Rusted wire around middle of skull. Tusks loose in alveoli.; MAM number 9350; original catalog number Osteo 3735 (MAM.O.03735); accn=YPM.03825.
